Roller conveyors

Roller conveyors are used for unit transportation of items and they can be actuated or non-actuated.

In the case of non-actuated conveyors, the goods move thanks to the power of gravity or by manual shifting.

In the case of powered conveyors, there are several ways of driving:

• drive shaft (an electric gearbox drives the drive shaft and power is transmitted to the rollers by means of circular belts)
• roller drive (the motor is integrated in the roller and is often used for contactless accumulation)
• tangential chain/belt (electric gear drives the chain/belt which transmits power to the rollers)
• chain between rollers (rollers are connected to each other by chain loops)

They are mostly suitable for the transportation of cardboard boxes, plastic containers, wooden pallets… The construction of the conveyors and rollers especially depends on the dimensions and weight of the transported material.
